I want to thank Brendan from Take Charge of Your Money for nominating me for this awesome Blogger Recognition Award! It’s really great to recognised in this huge and interesting Personal Finance community.

The Blogger Recognition Award is an award given to bloggers by fellow bloggers. It resembles those email chain messages (or chain letters) from long ago. When you are nominated, you find other blogs that you enjoy and simply pass it on. Unlike the traditional chain email though, this award serves a purpose: it promotes blogs and helps readers discover them. It’s an excellent way of showcasing the blogs we follow and enjoy reading, and acknowledges the hard work and dedication of the people who create such blogs. It’s also a great way to make new friends!

 

Why I started blogging

My blog is a little 2 month old baby, but God has it grown in that short amount of time! My reason for blogging is simple: to educate myself and others. I want to learn about money, and since I am no expert, I read, I take courses and I listen. I break down all the important info and explain it through articles and ‘Money Experiments’. Although it’s much more work than I anticipated, I have absolutely fallen in love with blogging and hope to continue for many more years.

Advice for new bloggers

Tip 1: Blogging is not a passive income job, it’s not an easy or simple hobby. Blogging is hard work. It requires passion, consistency and determination. I definitely don’t want to put you off blogging, I just want more people to put quality posts out there. Blogging takes time and a lot of effort. At the beginning you won’t get the traffic or the results you expected, but you will get to know awesome people from around the world who are in the same situation as you, and that honestly, makes it all worth it.

Tip 2: If you ever run out of blog article ideas, pick up a real magazine on your topic niche and read through. I recently bought a subscription to the MoneyWeek here in the UK, and can’t get over how much I am learning! Plus it’s a nice change to always being stuck to a screen.
